Subscription Commerce: Transforming E-commerce with Recurring Payments
E-commerce has changed a lot in recent years, with subscription commerce emerging as a major trend. This business model allows customers to make recurring payments to receive products or services on a regular schedule. From meal kits and beauty boxes to streaming services and shaving kits, subscription commerce is transforming the way people shop, offering both convenience and personalization to customers and businesses.
What is Subscription Commerce?
Subscription commerce is a model where customers pay on a recurring basis for products or services. These recurring payments are often managed through a subscription management app, making it easy for both businesses and customers to keep track of their subscriptions. The main types of subscription models include:
Product subscriptions: Regular deliveries of items like coffee, razors, or clothing.
Service subscriptions: Access to ongoing services such as streaming, software, or online fitness classes.
Curated subscriptions: Customized products or experiences that match a customer’s tastes, like beauty boxes or book clubs.
Why Subscription Commerce is Gaining Popularity
Subscription commerce has become popular due to several key reasons:
Convenience: Customers save time by avoiding frequent shopping trips.
Personalization: Many subscription services let users customize their orders to suit their needs.
Discovery: Subscribers can explore new products they might not have considered before.
Cost savings: Subscriptions often provide discounts compared to one-time purchases.
Loyalty: A consistent and positive experience keeps customers returning.
Using a subscription management app simplifies handling recurring payments, helping businesses offer a smoother experience to their subscribers.
Trends in Subscription Commerce
The subscription commerce industry continues to grow and adapt with some key trends leading the way:
Diverse product categories: Subscription services are expanding beyond traditional areas like beauty and food into fashion, home goods, and even luxury items.
Advanced personalization: Brands are using data and AI to create more tailored subscription experiences.
Collaborations with subscription platforms: Companies are teaming up with subscription services to expand their reach.
Bundled subscriptions: Some businesses are offering combined packages that include multiple products or services.
Subscription marketplaces: Platforms where customers can discover and subscribe to a wide range of products in one place are becoming more common.
Benefits for Businesses
Subscription commerce offers several significant benefits to businesses:
Predictable income: Regular subscriptions mean reliable revenue through recurring payments.
Customer loyalty: Satisfied subscribers tend to stick with the brand for the long term.
Higher Customer Lifetime Value (CLV): Subscribers generally spend more money over time than one-time buyers.
Detailed data insights: Subscriptions allow businesses to gather valuable information about customer preferences.
Effective marketing: Companies can target specific audiences and offer upgrades more easily.
A subscription management app can be crucial for managing recurring payments and ensuring a seamless experience for both businesses and customers.
Challenges in Subscription Commerce
While subscription commerce has many benefits, it also comes with challenges that businesses need to tackle:
High customer acquisition costs: Attracting new subscribers can be pricey.
Customer churn: Keeping subscribers engaged can be tough if the service doesn’t meet their expectations.
Inventory control: Managing stock levels for physical products can be tricky.
Pricing strategies: Finding the right pricing balance that provides value to the customer while ensuring profitability is challenging.
Regulatory compliance: Following rules about subscription cancellations and refunds is essential for all businesses.
Conclusion
Subscription commerce is changing how we shop, offering new ways to provide convenience, personalization, and cost savings to customers. Using a subscription management app to handle recurring payments can make the process easier for businesses and deliver a better experience to subscribers. As more companies embrace this model, we can expect to see even more innovative and creative subscription services in the future.
Subscription commerce is set to continue reshaping the e-commerce world by focusing on what customers need and simplifying how businesses handle their subscriptions.

Friendly reminder that you do not have to buy loads of new planners/journals or try new productivity systems in the new year.
You do not have to try and reinvent yourself overnight.
Change and growth happens slowly, and you are allowed to take your time with it.
#something about all the specifically adhd focused productivity apps/subscription services/journals ect around atm rly irks me#it feels like a new flavour of the productivity money making thing specifically for those of us that struggle with it#and i cant help but feel like its exploiting our adhd tendency to try new things like that#look after yourselves this new year <3#actuallyadhd#recovery#productivity

Monetizing Accessibility
I wrote a review awhile ago for an app that I heavily relied on due to my dyslexia and TBI— Speechify. Its a text-to-speech reader that I can take photos of text books or signs and have them read to me. I used it plenty. You can take as many photos as you want, upload them, and have it read to you. Well..... thats what you used to be able to do. Then I updated the app and tah dah the main feature is behind a paywall!!! I can upload 3 files (photo/photoset) only! And if I want more I have to pay THIS fucking much:
So I updated my app review from 5 stars to 1
Then a long time later I got this email:
"One time discount" on something that was fucking free. Its the most basic feature. There were plenty of additional features to pay for and ads prior. Now the ENTIER goddamn app, including the absolute most basic function, above 3 files is behind a $140 paywall. I don't want 90% of the features just keeping files like I could before. Its not even a one time fee; its a subscription. As if my TBI and dyslexia only lasts a year. Not to mention I already deleted my entire library.
I fucking hate how goddamn expensive being disabled it is. The email is an insult.
#speechify#app#disability#cripple punk#cpunk#tbi#tbi is physical disability imo 🤷🏻♀️#dyslexia#neurodivergence#accessibility#text to speech#text to speech reader#disabled#fuck them so goddamn much#subscriptions#monetization#i was fine with the app becoming usless but this email enraged me

youtube ads becoming first one 5-second ad then two 5-second ads in a row or one 15-second ad then a million unskippable ads in the middle of videos instagram quietly inserting one ad in-between every 5 or 10 ig stories then 2 in-between 4 ig stories not to mention the new reel- and explore page ads. a quiet tumblr ad banner at the top of your dash then photo ads in-between posts then video ads then video ads in-between every 3 or 5 posts that play audio automatically while youre trying to read a textpost. the most popular, paid subscription, news apps adding ads between their articles, then in articles, then paywalling new articles further with a new "news +" subscription and putting ads in those as well. once every 15 tweets there being an ad, then every 5, then theres also an ad if you scroll to the replies. you cant look at tweets without logging in anymore, theres just no option for anon scrolling. facebook ai mining on instagram, facebook ai profiles hyping up ai generated photos im fucking going insane ai temu ads and gallery app ads and printer app ads and higher subscriptions while still seeing ads and i cant fucking do this anymore!!!!! its fucking shameless and worst of all its silent and nobody talks about how half the things we see anymore are fucking ads and we dont own a single thing we pay for and companies can just randomly raise their prices through the roof and nobody says anything about it
#im going insane???#we dont own anything movies are digital every fucking app and software i subscription based AND THEN THEY HAVE THE FUCKING GALL#TO PUT ADS IN THOSE AS WELL!!!!#20 bucks a month for a software that i have to watch banner ads on! its fucking insane#the entire world is owned by four corporations and ads are fucking everywhere i feel like i see more ads than posts nowadays#and it didnt use to be like this!!!! thats the insane part to me!!!!!!#i started social media in 2014 10 years ago and there wasnt a single ad on instagram#but the worst is that nobody fucking complains about it . everybodys like oh its bad that netflix isnt allowing people-#-outside of one wifi to use one account even tho theyve paid for it for like. two weeks#and then we go back to normal. no complaining no yelling no real backlash! and everybody keeps their subscriptions#im going insane genuinely i dont know what the fuck#rant#vent#anti capitalism#ads#advertisement#advertisements#advertising#social media#instagram#tumblr#facebook#twitter#UGH

i am once again recommending that, if you live in the middle of nowhere and your public library is lacking in digital resources, see if you can get an ecard through the largest library system in your state (for example, i live in massachusetts, so for me it's the boston public library). often they'll give you a card for free (or a nominal fee in some cases) if you have in-state residence, even if you don't live in the city it's in. it doesn't give you access to everything, obviously, but it's how i've accessed libby and kanopy for years even though the one in my town doesn't offer those services, and i just checked and they've expanded access to also include things like comic books, daily newspapers, and a meditation app. obviously it's gonna vary state to state but it's definitely worth a try!
#my post#i'm so fucking psyched about the meditation app btw because i was ALREADY PAYING FOR IT. i can cancel my subscription thank u bpl

looking for a replacement for duolingo and i am truly losing my mind at how far these language learning apps go to try to hide the fact that they require a paid subscription to learn just about anything
#i mean i guess i can't be mad at them. they're right it is only 15 minutes#anyways a few apps didn't even mention a subscription plan in their description at all...... good way to make people hate you i think#like just to be clear i'm not mad that these apps aren't free. i get that making apps like this takes a ton of time and money and knowledge#i just want them to be up front about it#anyways. trying memrise out now and i like that the lessons are smaller more bite sized but no placement test... only way to skip ahead#is to go right to intermediate...#btw yes i did scroll thru the rest of the lessons on ling and i am not misrepresenting things. every other lesson was locked

sometimes looking at like Self Help Strategies lists for the symptoms I'm having is always just like:
thing that I already do
thing I have tried 10 times
thing I already do
thing that I don't have the money to do
thing I already do
thing I've been doing since I was 10yrs old to no avail
thing that is impossible given my situation
thing that doesn't apply to me
thing that I already do
thing I have already tried
hrmm, oh wait, maybe finally- OH, yeah.. okay. thing that I already do but it was just phrased slightly differently
thing I have already done
#I think maybe productivity tips help less if the reason you're unproductive is partially like.. physcial health and other extenral things#out of your control. rather than just like having trouble paying attention or spending too much time on tiktok or whatever#all the strategic to do lists in the world are not going to somehow prevent me from waking up with a debilitating migraine or whatever#or having external stressors or lacking resources and connections or other Productivity Essentials etc.#especially many tips involve stuff like 'cut off from social media' since thats the modern day time waster for so many poeple#and it's like.. lol.. i can hardly even maintain a blog even thuogh i actively WANT TO DO SO. 'shut off your smart phone!' already#done babey i fucking hate smart phones i shall never use an app unless i am forced to. 'delete tiktok' yep. already covered. tiktok and#all of those thinsg are my enemies. 'save money by cancelling some of your services' cool. already ahead of you.#who the fuck is out here paying for like 10 different subscription services. pirated videos uploaded to google drive and youtube to mp3#my beloved. etc. etc. and so on. 'socialize less' .........LOL.. if only you knew.. mr.writer of the article. i can barely muster#talking to friends more than once a month and even less if I'm actively sick (often occurence) etc. etc. ... hewoo#I think maybe instead of generic productivity tips I need more like.. how to refocus and be productive anyway even if you have a headache#or are nauseous or etc. Not that those are always things to ignore. and of course you should let your body rest and etc. But plenty of peop#e have mild physical symptoms and just work through them. Ithink something about the way my body/mind is SOO hyper attuned to all#sensory information just makes it like... constantly 'GRR well I cant focus on WRITING right now because my lef#t ear feels weird and my socks are too itchy and my back has a strange pressure and I'm vaguely warm and my eye feels some ssort of#way it doesnt normally feel and I'm hyperaware of my breathing and also nauseous for no reason' and like half of those things I#think '''normal''' people wouldnt even notice or at least would be able to just live through. but for me it's like.. nealry impossible to i#gnore and soooo distracting always. like 'wahh.. nooo we can't draw or get anything done.. my legs feel slightly heavy or something!!'#like............. ok......... who cares. thats not even a PAIN sensation it's just something weird. but it's just like.. NO. constant#mental alerts about the 'heaviness' of your legs be upon ye. Though Imean like.. yes.. 70% of the time I am in genuine pain#or having some sort of actual ailment with trackable physical symptoms. but sometimes it's just like... we could totally be working right#now and ignoring this silly thing but my brain is fixated on it for no reason uncontrollably. etc. etc. I guess it's the same way that like#most people can go to a grocery store without the whole experience being so overwhelming and so much stuff going on at once#that they have to rest afterwards but like.. in my own HOME doing NOTHING i feel like I should be able to not get overwhelmed lol. ANYWAY#Rolling my bastard little rock up a dumbass hill and so on and so forth

fxck me, can't I please just have ONE THING?! I am so done with everything becoming paywalled and subscription based.
yes, +1$/month can be too much for a disabled person, especially those not from the US.
not to mention the fact that this wasn't "properly" announced until after the subscription model was implemented and several users (some of them dyslexic) gave a ★☆☆☆☆, and by proper announcement I mean the app sent me a notification with a ^^ at the end. and don't even get me started on the passive-aggressive don't like don't use bs.
also correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this against the Ao3 ToS?
Happy Holidays, I guess.

just got an email that apple is forcing patreon to make everyone switch to a subscription model instead of first of the month payment or else they can’t keep the patreon app in the app store which is sooooo fucked. so of course everyone is being forced onto the subscription model. i kept turning it down because its shit for people who mail things and don’t want to keep track of a million sign up dates but i guess i don’t have a choice!!!!!!
#you can defer it until november 2025 but they’re starting to switch people over this november#and you can’t join a patreon in-app if they haven’t switched to subscription#which IMO isn’t worth it anyway bc part of it is that apple is going to start doing an up charge to join in-app! like i would rather people#not pay the up charge! use the website!!#anyway now i have til november next year to decide if i can deal with subscription billing or if i should find another platform. lol#and i don’t even have a huge following i feel bad for all the people who do first of the month & have a lot more people than me#this sucks why does everything keep getting worse#chatpost
